Give your mind a break

Give your mind a break

  • Almost all of us have been part of the hustle culture at some point, and unfortunately, we see being busy as a badge of honor.  As a result, we overdo and try to overproduce, only to realize the law of diminishing returns. But our brain is just like another muscle, and there’s a limit to how much it can handle.

  • We tend to forget that our lives are for the long haul, and constant work will only dull our minds.  Being online all the time and working all the time lowers our IQs. By resting our brains, we will be able to perform better and be more focused.

  • A binge-watching session of a TV series or a scroll through social media does not qualify as downtime. We need to do much, much less. Try doing something that doesn’t require you to use your brain much - like stepping outside for a walk in nature, taking a shower, or writing by hand. If you have to, put your phone in another room and disconnect from technology and notifications  for a while. You won’t find it easy at first, but you’ll never regret it once you get the hang of it.

  • It is during our downtime that we tend to tap into our creativity, and that’s when we have our ‘aha’ moments. There’s a reason why we get our most creative ideas while taking a shower!  So, take a break, don’t overwork your body, and let your mind wander.

But that’s just my take. Comment and share yours.
